Presentation of Rugby Credit Union to Employees of Rugby Borough Council
On April 12th 2005, Rugby Credit Union launched its Payroll Deduction Scheme to employees of Rugby Borough Council. A presentation was made by Brian Geary, Development Officer of Rugby Credit Union, in the Council Chamber, Rugby Town Hall. Also in attendance were Rugby Credit Union Board Members and volunteers. He explained how credit unions are established in most British towns and cities, offering a real alternative to high street banks and building societies. The new arrangement will enable Council employees to become members of Rugby Credit Union and have their savings deducted directly from payroll. These members will have the same rights as every other member and play an equal part within the credit union. In time it is hoped that other employers in the town will follow the Council's example and set up similar saving schemes for their employees.
