Volunteering

As a not for profit organisation, we rely on the help and support of our community. Volunteering at Rugby Credit Union is not only a great way to learn new skills and gain valuable experience but enables you to contribute to delivering ethical financial services to your local community. There are a number of volunteering options available and our friendly and professional staff will provide the necessary support and training.

If you are interested and are able to provide just a few hours a month to a few days per week, we would love to hear from you.

Here is a summary of specific jobs in Rugby Credit Union:

Chairperson: Chairs monthly Board of Directors meeting and the Annual General Meeting of members. Presents annual report to AGM. Acts as figurehead of the Credit Union.

‍Treasurer: Financial manager of the Credit Union and has responsibility for the accounts and preparing financial reports for the Board and Regulators.

‍Secretary: Organises Board meetings and committees, prepares minutes of meetings and deals with formal correspondence.

‍Customer Service Staff: Help members visiting the office and deal with all phone or on-line enquiries and provide day-to-day administration of members accounts.

‍‍Credit Committee: A team of volunteer directors conducting loan interviews, assessing risk and managing the credit control and arrears processes.

Supervisory Committee: A team of volunteers acting as independent Internal Auditors to ensure the Credit Union operates according to the relevant FCA and PRA Regulations and complies with Rules & Policies of the organisation.

‍Maintenance: Volunteers responsible for the office facilities, security, staff health & safety, utilities and general building maintenance.

Fund Raising: Researching available funding opportunities; developing relationships with funding bodies on our behalf and preparing applications for support.

Community Liaison: Reaching out to partner organisations and building awareness of the Credit Union with Local Government and Community Associations.

Marketing: Research and product development to improve the relevance of our services to members. Promotion; publicity; social media; leaflet distribution.

‍Money Laundering Prevention/Reporting Officer: Monitors systems and ensures that Credit Union is not used for laundering of 'illegal' money.

Training Officer: Provides information and guidance to staff, new members and volunteers.

IT and Website Management: To advise on systems, hardware, security and applications.

Compliance officer: Ensures the Credit Union complies with all relevant regulations, policies and procedures and that these are reviewed regularly and reported to the Board.

To comply with the regulations of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), approval is required for individuals who undertake some of the above roles.
